Indoorscape
This was a project I recently did in my Digital Illustration II class. The assignment was to photograph an indoor scene and paint it digitally as realistically as possible. This piece took me quite a long time, but it was lots of fun.
Midas’ Treasure
This was another project I recently did in my Digital Illustration II class. The assignment was to do a piece on a mythical figure. I chose to do one on King Midas. I love this story because of its redemptive arc at the end. All the treasure we need is the people close to us, not all these material possessions. This piece also took me quite a long time. It was worth it.
Heroine Bust
This was a project I did in my Digital Illustration I class to honor of one of my favorite actresses, Viola Davis. I find her life story and rise from rags to riches inspiring. She has taken all the bad things she went through in life and she has used them to propel herself into stardom. She is also a force for good for those less fortunate. Her passionate and controlled portrayals of black women in Hollywood are nothing short of remarkable!
Skull Studies
This was another class project I did in Digital Illustration I. We were learning about anatomical studies. Learning about the human body is a big part in understanding art and design in general. For this project, as well as the one above and the ones below, I was relatively new to painting in Photoshop. I did well, however, if I say so. I can say that I had lots of fun learning the ins and outs of Photoshop as I went along.
Eye Studies
This was also another class project I did in Digital Illustration I. We were still learning about anatomical studies. The eyes are a fascinating subject, as they hold so much beauty and mystery. I can definitely say that I had lots of fun working on these, as well.
Mask
This was also another class project I did in Digital Illustration I. We were tasked to do a piece that speaks on a social issue. Life is filled with ups and downs. So many of us, in the process of living, store up lots of negative feeling and emotions; we don’t share or let out the steam until we can’t hold it any longer. And that’s when we explode. Most times, this is not pretty, and it can also be in extreme ways, such as suicide! I wanted to encourage us to make it a habit to share with our loved ones and not be a society walking around pretending to have smiley faces like all is well when we have bombs in our heads. Let’s share with one another!
